Progress of my project

Currently I have done everything I can do to prepare for my 20 time project. To complete my project I have to just wait. My project was to donate a dollar to cancer for every goal scored on the girls lacrosse team this spring. So now I have to wait until the spring comes and the season starts. I'm very excited for the season to start and the goals to start adding up! When the season starts I will keep a log of all of our games and the score so at the end of the season I will have a total amount of goals and the amount that will get donated.

Informational Paper

For the last two weeks I have been doing some research on careers involved with lacrosse.  Based on this research others could read what I got and educate themselves more on lacrosse or careers based on lacrosse. I think the more you know about something your passionate about, the easier it is to be passionate about it.
So far I have done my research and put it into paragraphs so that my informative paper can be done. To make sure my project goes through well I will be going back through everything I did to recap and find out what needs to be done yet. Basically, I just need the season to start so that I can start counting up goals or start donating money.

Professional Opportunities

Having lacrosse as my passion can be a challenge because there is no possibility of me pursuing it as a career. There is no such thing as a professional Women's Lacrosse League so after college it all just stops. So as an alternative I could coach younger kids lacrosse teams so they could have the opportunities that I have had growing up. Being involved in a sport is something I think every kid should have a chance to do because there are great opportunities for everybody. Even if I can't coach any teams I would like to have my job be involved in with sport, training or exercise. Something I did not like that I found was to be in the athletic training or coaching fields you have be well known to get a good job and to be payed well, if not you might not find a good job.

Reflection on pitch day

Since we have started this project the most valuable lesson I have learned is that you have to work with what your given because not everything is going to go your way. This has taught me a lot because as I was doing my project not everybody answered me when I contacted them or some people aren't as understanding as others, so I just had to learn to work with the opportunities that were given to me as an advantage. This lesson will help me in other classes because then when something isn't working to my advantage in the classes or the real world I will know how to overcome the obstacles and move on with what I already do have.

Blog post week 5

Reflection on pitch day

On Friday we had pitch day for our 20 time projects. I was really nervous at first because people I didn't know we're coming in to listen to our ideas. But after presenting my ideas once or twice I became very comfortable and it was fun telling people about all I had came up with these last few weeks. It really made me feel good when people would complement my work or they would suggest something to improve my work. By doing this project it has really helped me a lot and made a big difference in my life knowing I can use what I love to help others who are struggling. I hope my ideas work and in the future I can take them even further.

Blog post week 4

Progress so Far
I have decided since I can't get a field to raise money to donate to a cancer foundation I am going keep track of the amount of goals my lacrosse team scores this season, then for every goal we score have a dollar donated to finding a cure for cancer. To go through with this idea I'm going to have to find a sponsor to donate the money for each of the goals.
It has been challenging because now I have to go back and change my project around so everything still works out in the end. This has taught me that in the real world not everything goes your way so you have to work with what you have, to accomplish what you need too.

Blog post week 3

Outcome of Contacting People
As you know if you had read the last blog post, I was going to contact my schools athletic director by email to see if I could somehow get a field. Unfortunately, a lot of people ask to get the fields to do events and they just won't allow it because it can become unfair. Also due to insurance liabilities the lacrosse administration will not allow it. Due to this I will need to go back and rethink through my project so I can get things straight again.
I have learned so far in this project that things are not always going to work the way you want them and that there will be bumps in the road so you have to go back and work around them. To solve this problem I will probably have to go back and change my idea around a little bit because I don't really have any other places to go.
